Homelite ZR43160 6 Amp Electric Pole Chain Saw – My Review
Let’s start off with the actual pole saw itself: alright, you cannot use it for professional level workloads and everyday use and expect it to last for ages. It’s NOT meant for that and it’s NOT that heavy duty.
Let’s start off with the actual pole saw itself: alright, you cannot use it for professional level workloads and everyday use and expect it to last for ages. It’s NOT meant for that and it’s NOT that heavy duty.
BUT hey, that’s NOT what it’s made for. If you are looking for something that could handle a lot of punishment, may I suggest that you go to your favourite tool store and grab a professional grade chainsaw?
HOWEVER, if you are an average homeowner with an average workload, if you want to get rid of those unreachable branches that are of small to medium size, the Homelite ZR43160 is more than up to the task!
It works great for that task. It’s lightweight, easy to use, and really powerful!
The Good:
- Comes at a great price
- Efficient tool for trimming and pruning small to medium sized branches and average workload
- Powerful enough for cutting without any hassle.

And those are just to name a few. YES, the Homelite ZR43160 does what it’s expected to do. HOWEVER, as with anything, this pole saw from Homelite also has some shortcomings.
The Bad
- Filling the chain’s oil reservoir could get really messy if you don’t know what you are doing.
- The reach isn’t that good. Well, unless you are Shaqueal Oneal, or if you are using a 6 feet ladder, you can reach up to 15 feet. BUT the Homelite ZR43160′s reach alone isn’t something to write home about.

Refurbished Homelite ZR43160 – you get what you pay for. Keep that in mind. There are refurbished tools that look and work like brand new. On the other hand, there are refurbished pole saws that look like they came from heavy use. Despite being messy, they are shoved in the box after some mock examination and sent on their way.
Unfortunately, the one I got belongs to this category. It has mulched up wood pulp all over the chain and this goes all the way to the Homelite ZR43160′s housing. Also, it has dirt and oil in the thread of the pole extensions.
Not to mention the cap of the oil reservoir was not closed tightly resulting to leaks. Good thing, it was wrapped with a brown packaging. If it wasn’t for that, things would have been twice as messy.
HOWEVER, after cleaning it up, the Homelite ZR43160 worked great. Overall, I’m happy with the quality. BUT I did call the guys who sent me this refurbished model to let them know what I got.
Safety Tips: as with any chainsaw, you need to keep an eye on your balance while you are cutting. This holds true most especially when it’s extended away from your body. It takes some time to get used to the pole saw being fully extended and away from your body.
