How To Use A Pole Saw Safely For Tree Pruning?
What do you do when you have a thick vine or a branch that needs cutting, and you can’t reach the thing from the ground?
Well, while most people use the prunes and ladders to climb and prune up the surface and consider taking some professional help for the purpose, there is another easy way to prune a tree branch or a vine. It’s a pole saw. You can use a pole saw to solve your pruning issues from the ground.
However;
Working on these machines require a certain level of safety as they can be pretty dangerous. So before you go ahead and use the pole saw, there are some cautionary measures that you need to take care of so that you don’t harm yourself.
Some Precautions To Take Care Of
Once you decide on cutting high wood from the ground and reaching certain heights for running purposes, be careful because you have just entered a dangerous territory around here. In the case of professionals, there are many other accessories such as ropes and pulleys to help them drop the large pieces of cut wood, but this certainly cannot be done when you use a pole saw with your own. You have to make sure that you are at a safe distance when you let the cut wood drop, uncontrolled.
Also, pole saws are efficient when you use them to cut the limbs of the tree that are just a few inches in thickness. One thing to keep in mind is that the thicker the wood gets, the lower will be the efficiency of the pole saw. It can make the cutting procedure tiring.
You must not in anyway try to drop the branches overhead without knowing the techniques for reducing the weight of the wood before you make the final cut.
You might also notice that the pole saws that have extensions of over 8 feet tend to tire you more easily.
One of the most important precautions would be to stay away from the power lines while pruning.
Here are some of the tips to prune safely:
• Clear your area below which your branch will fall. You don’t want any harm to people and property. Also, sweep away additional branches and roots.
• Make sure of the area where you need to cut. And make jump cuts for the reduction of weight.
• Making a jump cut is physically tiring as the blade cuts from under the branch defying gravity.
• Water sprouts require more effort while pruning.
• Once you decide on the area, you can place your pole saw in the area. Make sure you hold it with both hands, firmly in a vertical position.
• You need to position yourself carefully before you cut. Shift to a suitable position and have a firm hold of that position.
• Begin the cutting procedure with small and slow strokes, cut perpendicular to the branch for better efficiency. You can increase the speed once your saw is settled in the starting groove.
• Clear your entire work area once you are done.
Planning on pruning up a tree in your yard, well with these tips you can do it efficiently and carefully.
